Festival Hub Artists
Julia Dickens is a DJ, visual artist and organizer based out of Toronto, ON. A mainstay in TO’s DIY art and music circles, she channels her energy into cultivating community events and curating psychedelic sets ranging in style and mood from soft downtempo, chugging wave and high intensity techno, acid and electro
Born and raised in Toronto, ON, Caitlin Woelfle-O’Brien (aka Blunt Chunks) studied Musical Theatre at Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts and then Contemporary Dance at Concordia University in Montreal. After leaving Concordia in 2011, Blunt Chunks was formed out of Caitlin’s curiosity for the endless world of sound. Beginning with soundscapes and ethereal samples, Blunt Chunks was very much an ambient experimental project until 2015. With pop sensibility, ambient tones and vocal layering, her songs have been described as “music to keep close to your heart”, “electronic Dolly Parton” and “hypnotic”. Since 2012, Blunt Chunks has performed countless sets in Toronto, as well as surrounding towns and cities all over Canada. She has collaborated with artists such as Charlotte Day Wilson, Lido Pimienta, Scott Hardware and Lee Paradise, and has recently completed an EP with producers David Plowman and Nate Burley (Young Clancy). The self-titled EP was released in spring 2022, via Telephone Explosion Records and features members of Luna Li, The Weather Station and Broken Social Scene. Caitlin is also a member of Toronto indie band Jaunt, and has recorded two full length records with them as a vocalist and writer. Currently, a debut Blunt Chunks full length record is in production, slated for release in early 2024.

Formerly known as Slim Twig, he is presently the bandleader of the acclaimed progressive fusion octet Badge Époque Ensemble. He has also been involved as co-producer, songwriter and guitar player for U.S. Girls since 2011. His wildly eclectic catalogue across projects over the last 15 years represents a hard-to-pin-down creative restlessness and musical cerebrality.
Jane Inc.
2020 was the birth of Jane Inc., a solo project forged by Carlyn Bezic after years of building her bona fides in the Toronto music scene with groups like U.S. Girls, Darlene Shrugg and acclaimed dance-pop duo Ice Cream. Pitchfork called Jane Inc.'s first album, 2021's Number One "dazzling... [Bezic] proves herself a musical Swiss Army knife, capable of anything and revelling in her multiplicity." On sophomore album Faster Than I Can Take, she uses all the tools at her disposal - a Prince-like ability to shred harmonic guitar riffs over deep, danceable grooves, an eagerness to experiment with form, and lyricism that seamlessly links the personal and the political - to focus the multifaceted energy of Number One into something completely singular. In her live show, Bezic takes the conceptual roots of Faster Than I Can Take and stretches and deepens them, while creating “an incredible presence, keeping the audience rapt even when she was just dancing hypnotically, reminisent of Mistki or Lorde” (Brooklyn Vegan), proving that a Jane Inc. show is the ideal setting to dance while you cry.

Each set is unique. He recently released a pair of back-to-back studio albums on Telephone Explosion Records, entitled Lee Paradise & Co. and Steady EP, respectively. These are follow-ups to 2020's much-lauded album The Fink. Lee is a member of the electronic duo Phèdre, and tours internationally.

She has previously released an EP titled Contribution and has released music and was a part of various musical projects. Katie’s DJ sets and mixes are an important extension and footnote to her own music.
